Five questions for Bajgart Design Office

How did the studio start?

I've always loved the first conversations with founders, understanding why they're starting their company and what they really want it to stand for. I started Bajgart Design Office to be the one person who both directs that thinking and executes it. With early-stage companies I end up feeling almost like a co-founder: I help shape and put into words what the company is, then bring it to life visually.

Where do your best ideas actually come from?

From conversations with clients. I love kickoff calls and talking to founders who are building something ambitious, because the answer to the brief is often hidden in how they talk about their company. There's usually one very specific thing they mention, and I build the whole identity around it, because I know it will serve them well.

What's one rule you never break?

A brand has to have an idea at its core. If it's just beautiful, it won't last, so I never present a direction I can't explain in one sentence.

What does AI change about your work, and what doesn't it change?

AI changes the speed and the range of what I can make. I can explore illustrative styles I couldn't do before and generate my own imagery. What it doesn't change is the core: digging deep to understand what a company does, how it should feel, and building a visual language only they could own.

What should a founder know before hiring a branding studio?

Be ready for a sounding board, not a yes-man. If you want a brand that truly stands out, it needs an idea and real meaning behind it, and a good studio will push you toward that rather than just making things look nice.
